Mr. H. Marius van Oldenborgh was brought up in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, qualified at the University of Cape Town Medical School and Groote Schuur Hospital, completing his general and kidney transplant surgical training in Professor Christaan Barnard’s heart transplant unit.
Research, borrowing techniques from surgery of the eye, led him into Opthalmology for which he trained and qualified at Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, winning the Moorfield’s Senior Prize.
Exposure to numerous hospitals throughout the world in conjunction with Orbis International and several other medical organisations stimulated a fascination in the subject of modern medical care delivery.
Marius van Oldenborgh is the current chairman of the HDA.
