Dr. Stuart Blackie trained at the Edinburgh University Medical School. Thereafter he was appointed lecturer in the Department of Pathology at Edinburgh University. In 1986, while working as Consultant Pathologist at Charing Cross Hospital, he was appointed Senior Lecturer in Pathology at the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School . In 1998 he set up his own Private Practice offering services specialising in Surgical Pathology and Cytology.
He has voluntarily undertook the medical supervision of sick and handicapped patients of all ages on holidays to Europe, including pilgrimages to Lourdes.
He is on the Private Practice Committee of the British Medical Association, and is the Vice President of the Medical Society of London
His deep interest and knowledge in the settling of disputes by mediation caused The Centre For Effective Dispute Resolution to appoint him an Accredited Mediator. Later, when serving on the Council of the Independant Doctors Forum (IDF), he was asked by the Forum to put in place a fair complaints procedure for the benefit of patients. He is now the Chairman of the Complaints Process for the IDF.
